It is an old passion for artistic comittments to cities and countrysides that guide us in the creation of this project.
Circus, artistic groups of music and dance, the entertainers. These people who left the big cities, with some scripts, music scores, canvas in their luggage… and who went to places where people couldn’t assist to artistic events. The upheaval they provoked altered people’s way of life. Sometimes briefly, sometimes forever !
Our idea :
- Using two festival, really distincts by their structure but sharing a lot of values, as a place of investigation for the creation of a third festival, in a little town somewhere in Europe.
- Making some documents which could allow other people, such as Universities, Cities, Associations, individuals… to share some ideas, some feedbacks about the creation of others cultural and artistic events or festivals.
- Creating a process allowinf to favor the economic development, the creation of jobs, thanks to culture and arts.
Two cultural events, produced by the Theater of the Oppressed, in Paris, and the troupe Carte Blanche, in Volterra, give us the starting point for a commun reflection, prerequisite to the fulfillment of the project :
- MigrActions Festival : an urban event, which have been existing for 10 years. In the Theater of the Oppressed, in the 12th district of Paris, MigrActions makes living together, during two weeks per year, artists from various horizons, various ages, various countries… Artists whoch have been offered to cross the boarders of their own discipline by emigrating actively towards others kinds of expression
- Volterra Teatro, festival directed by Armando Punzo, in the beautiful land of Tuscany. Decentralized in the coutryside, the Val di Cecina, it leads an urban audience, be used to artistic manifestations, in an unexpected place, towards the inhabitants of the little and medium cities of the valleys of Tuscany. The Festival show the creation of the troupe Compagnia de la Fortezza, formed by prisoners professionnal actors, who present their work inside the jail, exceptionnally open during the shows.
To create the third Festival, which will take place in the city of Ponda do Sol, in Madera (Portugal), others collaborators will join their skills to the ones of the two first troupes :
- University Lumière Lyon 2: referent collaborator for the investigation about the good practices and good compétences for the managers of festivals, will gather and analize the concrete observations after the realization of the Festival of the Theater of the Oppressed and the troup Carte Blanche, and will write the final report of analizes and practices necessary to the implementation of artistic festivals.
- Frati-Ribeiro – Madera, Portugal – is participating to the project in all the fields regarding the organisation of an artistic festival. It is in 2016, during the Festival in Madera, that the new models of good practices for the organisation of an artistic festival approved after the Volterra Teatro and migrActions will be experimented.
- Kubik Fabrik – Madrid, Spain– is our technic collaborator. It is participating not only by providing its own competency, but also by providing its competency in the field of marketing, in order to give as much visibility as possible to the results given by the use of new technologies.
- Parodi & Partners SPRL – Brussels, Belgium – responsible of the divulgation and the promotion plan of the project, will guarantee the extern communication, especially with the european stakeholders and the main association working in the artistic festivals.
We are sure that the sharing between the theorists and the organizators is as much important as the one between the professionnals of various countries in Europe. That’s why we have taken the challenge to make art and culture the main elements of a new economy, contributing to the building of a Europe that we love so much.
